Cyber Horror Stories:

Smart homes promise convenience, automation, and control… until the technology starts acting on its own. Our Podcast producer, Emily Anicio shared a cyber horror story from one of her favorite childhood movies. In 1999, Disney Channel released a Disney Channel original movie called Smart House. This movie follows the life of 13-year-old Ben Cooper who enters a contest to win a smart house for his family. Ben assumed that living in this house will make his dad consider remarrying since PAT (Personal Applied Technology) can do all of the housework and make them meals. But later on in the movie, Ben’s dad starts to fall for the programmer who designed the house and PAT. Causing Ben to tweak PAT’s programming. This Cyber Horror Story proves that sometimes the devices designed to make life easier can become the source of the fear itself.

This October, Dark Rhino Security wanted to have some fun with Halloween and Cybersecurity. So we thought, Why not combine the two? We gathered up some of our all-time favorite Security Confidential guests and asked them to tell a scary story about something that happened to them as it relates to Cybersecurity and or technology.
